LIVER KIDNEY MICROSOMAL (LKM)
This measures the antibody to components of renal and hepatic microsomes. These antibodies are directed. Against cytochrome p450 complex of microsomal enzymes present in the endoplasmic reticulum. Anti-LKM 1 are also called endoplasmic reticulum antibodies The presence of a high titre is diagnostic of hepatic disease and suggests an aggressive course.This antibody can be demonstrated in majority ofautoimmune hepatitis cases e.g chronic active hepatitis.
